Mission Missouri hosts Recovery Block Party
SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Those in recovery say it’s more than just staying sober, it’s also about building connections. That’s why the mission Missouri of Sikeston is throwing a block party to help celebrate and honor those in recovery, community members, or anyone else who wants to attend and let people know they aren’t alone.
Ashley Williamson graduated from the Mission Missouri and now works for the mission helping others on their road to recovery.
“I am actually a graduate of Mission Missouri” says Williamson. “I am a graduate, and now I work here but it’s important because it’s a place of love, it’s a place of community.”
Shelley Taylor is the Assistant Executive Director for Mission Missouri she gives details on the block party.
“This is going to be the second annual, block party on Saturday, September 19, here at Mission Missouri.”
The block party will have guest speakers, music, bounce houses, face painting, food, resources and more and run from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Director Jane Pfefferkorn shares more about Mission Missouri.
“We are actually on the access site for mental health and we’re in over 26 counties of Southeast Missouri. We do recovery housing, where an outpatient treatment facility, it’s amazing” says Pfefferkorn. “God always sends the next right person to help us grow and expand to meet the need of the community.”
The block party is open to the public and aims to connect those in recovery, wanting to know more about recovery, and community to join in on the fun.
