Missouri lawmakers, health leaders to address proposed Medicaid cuts in virtual briefing

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — U.S. Representatives Wesley Bell and Emanuel Cleaver will join health leaders on Wednesday to discuss the potential effects of proposed federal Medicaid cuts on Missouri families and communities.

The virtual press briefing, scheduled for May 21st, at 10:30 a.m. CT, comes as the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee considers legislation that could strip $584 million from Missouri’s Medicaid program.

Speakers will highlight the potential impact on care access, local providers and the state budget, and advocate for protecting Medicaid coverage for over 1.3 million Missourians.
