Missouri man sentenced to 130 months for child pornography possession

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Thomas O. Stroud Jr., 43, of Wappapello, was sentenced to 130 months in federal prison Tuesday for possession of child pornography.

Stroud, a registered sex offender, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau in November. He has a prior federal conviction for possessing child pornography in 2009 and was required to register as a sex offender and serve a 40-year term of supervised release [1).

While serving his supervised release, Stroud’s probation officer discovered he had obtained child pornography images through cellphone communications with someone in Indiana in March 2024.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Probation Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Koester prosecuting.

Stroud will be placed on supervised release again after serving his 130-month sentence.
