Missouri State driver license testing is changing

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) announced the state driver license testing process is changing in November.
MSHP says driver examination stations will close at 12 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024, and all-day November 8, 2024 as they prepare for a statewide upgrade.
The examination stations will re-open on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
The Missouri Department of Revenue’s (DOR) website lists three types of changes you can expect to see in November – modernization of the driver license record system, integration with the MSHP system, and real time updates to driver license records. It says these changes will make the driver license process more efficient and will help deter driver license fraud.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, as part of this upgrade, the Patrol will now offer the Class F written test in 20 languages. This includes a newly created sign language video version of the test by the Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The Missouri DOR’s website says more changes are coming in Spring 2025 and July 2026. This includes digital driver licenses and identification cards people can keep on their phones.
