Motorists advised to plan for extra travel time due to I-24 bridge construction

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Motorists are advised to exercise patience and plan for extra travel time due to road congestion on I-24, caused by construction on the I-24 bridge.

As a result, some GPS systems are redirecting drivers to the Brookport Bridge, leading to increased congestion and traffic backups in the city.

Semi-truck drivers are reminded that crossing the Brookport Bridge is prohibited and can result in citations for disregarding a traffic control device. Additionally, attempting to cross the bridge can cause traffic disruptions and emergency response delays.

Drivers are urged to allow ample time for travel and consider alternative routes to minimize congestion.
