MT. VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – A Mt. Vernon, Illinois man was sentenced to 152 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for 19 counts of reproduction of child pornography.

The honorable Judge Jerry Crisel sentenced Zachary E. Terry, 26, to a total of 152 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Terry was found guilty of 19 counts of reproduction of child pornography at the conclusion of his bench trial on Oct. 13.

He was sentenced to 8 years on each count, which must be served consecutively.

The prosecution was a result of a May 11, 2022, investigation into Terry’s suspected criminal activity after he was arrested on May 5 for aggravated domestic battery, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

While Terry remained in custody on that charge, acquaintances of Terry turned over electronic equipment containing suspected child pornography to deputies from the sheriff’s office and officers with the olice department.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Det. Capt. Wallace took over the investigation. Wallace is a member of the Department of Homeland Security Cyber Crimes Task Force. This led to multiple search warrants and evidence recovered.

Terry was charged with multiple counts of child pornography possession and remained in custody.
