Murphysboro man dies in motorcycle crash in Carterville

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Murphysboro man died in a motorcycle crash in Carterville.

Damian O’Neal, 27, died in a crash at Route Route 13 and Division Street for the report of a vehicle crash on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:03 p.m.

Emergency crews began life-saving measures in an attempt to help him.

Once EMS arrived on-scene, O’Neal was pronounced dead.

Authorities determined that the motorcycle was traveling at an unsafe speed with wet road conditions causing the O’Neal to lose control of the motorcycle, according to the Carterville Police Department.

The motorcycle and O’Neal turned over and he was ejected abouy 150 yards from the initial crash location.

Route 13 Eastbound from Division Street to Wolf creek Road was shut down for abouth three hours while officers investigated the crash scene.
