Murphysboro Park District accepting plastic caps, lids to be made into bench
MURPHSYBORO, Ill. (KBSI) – The Murphysboro Park District is collecting plastic caps and lids to be made into a bench in memory of a teacher who died nearly three years ago.
James Wells was a teacher and advisor for Murphysboro Middle Builder and High School Key Clubs. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Murphysboro, holding offices of club president and Kiwanis 1-1 District Division 36 Lieutenant Governor.
He exemplified the Kiwanis Vision by being “a positive influence in communities worldwife – so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nuture them and provide the support they need to thrive.”
Donations of types of caps accepted include:
- medicine bottle camps with any cardboard inserts removed
- hair spray, paint and deordorant caps
- milk jug caps
- flip-top caps (ie: ketchup, mustard, creamer tops)
Donations can be dropped off at the Murphysboro Youth & Recreations Center located at 1818 Walnut Street in Murphysboro Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. or D&D Hemp Store at 1337 Walnut Street Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
