National Weather Service says snow won’t be in the area long

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – Did you get outside and play in the snow today? We did!

Many of us woke up to snow fall this morning in different areas, several inches.

Many area school districts closed because of the snow and lots of kids got a snow day!  Kids share their favorite thing about a snow day is!

Scott City middle schooler Jonah Foulk “That I don’t have to go to school!”

Julien and Jace Scott City Elementary Students “Making a snow man!” Ya, that you can make a snowman, I’m making a mini snowman.”

From snowball fights to snow angels this is the snow you can have fun in! But according to the National Weather Service of Paducah you better have you’re fun in the snow today because it won’t stay long! Morning Meteorologist Christine Wielgos shares how long we can expect to see the snow.

“We should see a tapering off and a gradual end to the precipitation late this afternoon and into early this evening”.

The area has seen two winter weather events within the course of a week. Wielgos shares what we should expect coming up.

The snow will definently be ending depending on where you are in Southeast Missouri. Before the snow comes to a complete end late this afternoon I would say and across the counties that boarder the river and then it looks like smooth Saling for the next several days. For the upcoming weekend into the next week, we don’t see anything of any major systems coming through.
