CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Deputies extradited a North Carolina man Thursday who was wanted on charges in Lyon County, according to local authorities.
Officials said Moina Massalay, 35, was taken into custody March 12 around 12:45 p.m. and extradited from South Charleston, West Virginia.
Massalay was wanted on a failure to appear warrant from Lyon Circuit Court, where he faces charges including second-degree escape, giving a peace officer false identifying information, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities said Massalay was served with a bench warrant for failure to appear and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Officials also said biometric confirmation determined Massalay is an undocumented immigrant subject to removal from the United States. A federal immigration detainer was placed on him for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, authorities said.
