Notre Dame Regional High School launches new Agriculture Education program

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Notre Dame Regional High School announced the launch of an agriculture education program for the 2025-2026 school year, led by experienced educator Tom Hulshof.
The program will offer courses in agricultural science, agribusiness, agricultural construction, animal science and horticulture. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the Missouri Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization.
“Agriculture is a vital part of our region’s economy and culture,” said Notre Dame Principal Paul Unterreiner. “This program will provide our students with hands-on learning experiences and leadership development opportunities that will prepare them for careers in agriculture and beyond.”
Hulshof, a veteran educator with 29 years of experience, will lead the program. He has a strong background in agriculture education and has served as an FFA advisor.
“I’m excited to join the Notre Dame team and help launch this new program,” Hulshof said. “Agriculture education is essential for the future of our region, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
The program is made possible through the support of the school community and local businesses. Proceeds from the Winter Extravaganza event raised over $39,000 for the startup fund.
