NWS confirms EF0 tornado in southeast Missouri with 85 mph winds

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The National Weather Service in Paducah confirmed an EF0 tornado touched down in southeast Missouri during storms on March 15.

According to a damage survey, the tornado had estimated peak winds of 85 mph, traveled about 2.9 miles and reached a maximum width of 75 yards. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The tornado began around 6:44 p.m. near Clarkton in Dunklin County, moved through the town and lifted shortly after entering southwest New Madrid County around 6:50 p.m.

Damage was reported to a state school, a convenience store and several homes along Page Street in Clarkton. Additional damage occurred to an outbuilding south of East Highway 162, with debris scattered into a nearby field.

Officials said the tornado lifted before reaching the town of Gideon.

The National Weather Service noted the findings are preliminary and subject to change following final review.
