MEMPHIS, Tn., (KBSI) — The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will close Collierville-Arlington Road (Old State Route 205) over the Wolf River beginning Tuesday, September 8, for a bridge replacement project. The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic by October 2027, with the overall project expected to be completed in spring 2028. The closure will temporarily affect local traffic but will allow for quicker construction of the new bridge.

This $16.8 M project includes the replacement of the existing bridge, which regular inspections have determined has reached a point where replacement is necessary to ensure its long-term safety and reliability. The new bridge will provide a safe, dependable crossing for daily commuters, emergency access, and regional traffic. The contract was awarded to Dement Construction after TDOT accelerated the project’s letting date from fiscal year 2027 to August 14, 2026.

A fully signed detour route will be posted to guide motorists around the closure. Local access will be maintained up to the closure point. However, access to the Riverwalk Trail, parking area, and boat ramp will be closed during construction. Alternative access to the Riverwalk Trailhead will be available at the Collierville Greenbelt Trailhead and Wolf River Kayak Access Point. Signage will be posted.

Overnight detours planned on Interstate 24 westbound between Exit 31 (Grand Rivers) and Exit 27 (Kentucky Dam/Calvert City), starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, as part of an ongoing work zone in Marshall County.
