JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) — A Pacific man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following investigations into several burglary and stealing cases in Jefferson County, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Dave Marshak announced Friday that Nicholas Chapman was charged in connection with a series of crimes involving burglary, vehicle thefts, stolen firearms and property damage.
Authorities said Chapman faces multiple felony charges, including first- and second-degree burglary, stealing more than $750, attempted first-degree burglary, first-degree property damage, stealing a motor vehicle and two counts of stealing a firearm.
He also faces misdemeanor charges, including second-degree property damage, stealing and stealing less than $150.
Investigators believe the crimes happened between April 11 and April 15.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives learned Chapman had performed rehabilitation work inside one of the homes involved earlier in the month. Investigators allege Chapman later returned during the early morning hours of April 11 and burglarized the home.
Officials said additional burglary and stealing cases were reported in the following days.
Sheriff Marshak praised investigators for their work identifying and locating Chapman.
“I’m proud of the work done by our investigators,” Marshak said in a statement. “Getting criminals like this off the streets makes Jefferson County safer and helps deliver justice to the victims.”
Authorities said Chapman is being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
