Paducah man facing assault, burglary charges after man injured in shooting

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man faces charges and another man is in the hospital after a shooting Tuesday night.

third-degree criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking.
One man is jailed and another hospitalized after a shooting Tuesday evening
It happened in the 2400 block of Ohio Street. Police were called just after 7:30 p.m. to a hospital.
They found a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the leg, hip and buttocks.
The victim declined to speak with detectives. He was taken to an out-of-state hospital for treatment.
An investigation determined the shooting happened in the parking lot/sidewalk area outside of an apartment at Elmwood Court.
Detectives spoke with witnesses who identified the shooter as Christopher Trice Jr.
Detectives obtained a warrant charging Trice with first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Trice pleaded guilty in 2023 in McCracken County court to three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of first-degree criminal mischief. That conviction was the result of a shooting on on Nov. 2, 2022. Trice fired several shots in the parking lot of a local convenience store, according to Paducah police.
The shots hit a vehicle that had someone in it and a home less than a block away.
At about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 7 officers were dispatched to a “glass break” alarm at Smokers’ Paradise, 2700 H.C. Mathis Drive. When they arrived, they found the front door
broken and signs that someone had been inside.
Officers found Trice Jr. behind the building, along with bags of potato chips.
Police say he had blood on his hands and there was blood on a chip bag.
Trice was arrested on the warrant and on charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking.
He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
