PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill., (KBSI) – Pinckneyville elementary teachers could strike Wednesday, Nov. 4, if a contract agreement isn’t reached.
According to a letter from the Pinckneyville Elementary Education Association (PEEA), teachers have been working without a new contract since Aug. 14, and negotiations have continued for months.
The association says it remains willing to negotiate and hopes to avoid a strike.
What parents need to know: The association says it does not yet know whether District 50 will keep school buildings open if teachers strike. It encourages families to begin considering alternative childcare arrangements.
PEEA also says it plans to work with community organizations to offer daily activities for children if a strike occurs.
