Possible tornado causes damage in Cape Girardeau, road closures implemented

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A possible tornado caused damage in Cape Girardeau on April 2, 2025, with crews currently assessing the damage and clearing debris from roadways.
Initial reports indicate the south end of the city and downtown area were most heavily impacted.
No injuries have been reported.
Two areas will be closed indefinitely: Kingshighway between Bloomfield Road and William Street, and Cape Centre Drive between Kingshighway and Broadview.
Motorists are advised to avoid the city to allow crews to clear roadways and assess damage.
