Protesters show support for 5051 movement in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A stand for democracy peaceful protest was held in Cape Girardeau in response to the nationwide grassroots movement opposing the trump administrations new policies on Wednesday March 5, 2025.

Kalub Rowley led todays protest as part of the 5051 movement. The movement 5051 is a grassroots initiative organizing mass protests against the Trump Administration’s policies.

The name derives from the movements goal, which is 50 protests, in 50 states, in one day. 

Today we have been out here to raise awareness hoping that since people have seen the 5051-movement going on that they will be more aware and open, open minded to see the information that we have to spread,” said Kalub Rowley.

That information being protestors advocating for different causes such as government accountability, immigrant rights and federal funding cuts.

The group of protestors showed their support for the movement as they held signs for those driving by to read.

Em Linton/Zinn was one of the protestors who showed her support for the movement.

Alot of people I know personally didn’t vote because they don’t know what’s going on and I think what’s really important is responding with love through all the hate that’s going on” says Linton/Zinn.

Protestors stood outside on freedom corner from 7:00 am through 5:00 pm spreading awareness of the 5051 movement.
