Puppies reportedly abandoned in Caruthersville; shelter seeks information
FOX23 News at 9 p.m.
CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) — The Caruthersville Humane Society is asking for information after six puppies were reportedly abandoned in the 300 block of Highland.
In a Facebook post, the shelter says the puppies are too young to be separated from their mother and arrived hungry, covered in fleas and with worms. Staff plan to treat them, but taking in six puppies adds pressure to an already overcrowded shelter.
The humane society is seeking information about who left the puppies and where their mother may be. Anyone with security cameras near the area is asked to review their footage for information that could help.
Tips can be shared anonymously by calling the shelter at 573-724-4045 and leaving a message, or by contacting animal control at 573-757-5048.
The shelter is also accepting donations to help care for the puppies, including Purina dry puppy food and Pedigree wet puppy food. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter or mailed to P.O. Box 1139, Caruthersville.
Monetary donations can be made through Venmo at @Cvllehumanesociety or PayPal at cvhumsoc@hotmail.com.
