Reno to lead Carbondale as new City Manager

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Stan Reno, the city’s interim city manager and police chief, has accepted a conditional offer to become the new city manager, pending approval by the Carbondale City Council.

Reno’s extensive leadership experience and dedication to the community made him an ideal candidate for the position. As he prepares to transition into his new role, Reno will appoint an acting police chief to ensure continuity within the department. A nationwide search for a permanent police chief will also be conducted.

“Serving as police chief has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” Reno said. “I look forward to continuing to serve our community as city manager.”

The city expressed its gratitude to Reno for his commitment to public safety and looks forward to his leadership in his new role. Details on the selection of an acting police chief and the nationwide search will be announced.
