Ribbon cutting for a unique cafe’
VIENNA, Ill. (KBSI) – A ribbon cutting took place on Tuesday, January 2 at 11 a.m. for a new cafe in Vienna.
The new Clyffe Cafe’ is located at 100 Oliver Street.
It is a unique cafe and program presented by Arrowleaf of Southern Illinois.
Arrowleaf is the human services organization in southern Illinois that support people of all ages so that they can contribute to vibrant and more robust communities.
Arrowleaf is a nonprofit human services organization in southern Illinois. They are dispersing grants received from the IRS into Clyffe cafe. Sherrie Crabb is the Chief Executive Officer for Arrowleaf and she says Vienna is expected to see a lot of growth over the next 10 years and individuals with disabilities should be a part of that growth.
“This gives them an opportunity to be able to gain meaningful employment where we can train them and at the same time they’re earning a paycheck in hopes that they graduate from our program, and they can go out into the community and find a job somewhere else where they’re needed,” says Crabb.
The cafe will run like a full-service restaurant with an unlimited soup and salad bar and weekly hot lunch specials. There’s also a small merchandise section to purchase gift items. Crabb says because the cafe is run as a nonprofit organization employees cannot receive tips, but they can receive donations.
The cafe will be open for lunch and dinner service from 11am to 1:30 pm for lunch and 4:30 pm through 7:30 pm for dinner.
The cafe is not opened just yet, awaiting final details from the Health Department so they can open, which they hope will be within a week or two.
