PULASKI COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office attended Richland Elementary School’s fifth-grade D.A.R.E. graduation Friday after students completed the 11-week program focused on drug awareness, bullying prevention and peer pressure education.

According to the sheriff’s office, students learned about the dangers of drugs, the effects of bullying and strategies for making positive decisions.

Sheriff Stacy Ball praised the students for their understanding of the challenges facing young people today and encouraged them to continue making responsible choices.

“Programs like D.A.R.E. matter because they give our children the tools and confidence to stand on their own two feet, make the right choices and lead instead of follow,” Ball said in a statement.

The sheriff also thanked teachers, staff and parents for supporting the students throughout the program.

The D.A.R.E. program is designed to help students develop decision-making skills and resist drugs, violence and other risky behaviors.
