SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) — A storm shelter will open in Scott City later today as officials monitor the potential for strong winds and severe storms in the area.
The Scott City Police Department said the FEMA building at Scott City High School will open at 4:30 p.m. for residents who may need shelter.
Officials say the decision comes after reviewing forecasts that show a likelihood of very strong winds and storm activity.
The shelter will be shared with Scott City Schools, and pets will not be allowed inside.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and take precautions as severe weather moves through the region.
