Scott County Rural Fire Protection District mourns loss of firefighter

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Firefighters with the Scott County Rural Fire Protection District mourns the loss of a longtime firefighter.

Tony Smith passed away Wednesday, July 24.

Smith joined the fire service more than 30 years ago. He joined Scott County Rural Fire District in 2010.

Tony suffered a major stroke in 2020 and also battled cancer on top of battling all of life changes due to his stroke, according to Fire Chief Jeremy Perrien.

“Firefighter Tony Smith is finally at peace. Please keep the fire dept and Tony’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Arrangements will soon be announced,” said Fire Chief Perrien.
