Second annual Family Eco Festival takes place in Southern Illinois
ALTO PASS Ill. (KBSI) – STEM teachers host the second annual Family Eco Festival at Alto Vineyards on September 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The festival serves as a fundraiser for Southern Illinois STEM teachers and for children to learn environmental sustainability.
April Bartnick, organizer in the non-profit innovation of STEM education says, “This is something they can take back with them and learn science literacy at a festival like this.”
The fundraiser features a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and donations.
Proceeds will go to teachers to in order to assist with funding for science materials.
Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville graduate Rockette Jaros, says, “I think that the more resources we can give to our teachers in order to give to our children, the better.”
Hands-on science stations at the event include tardigrades, and microscopes, eco-arts and crafts, solar eclipse activates and environmental education.
