Secondary water treatment equipment fails at Carbondale Water Treatment Plant

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – The Carbondale Water Treatment Plant experienced a failure with a piece of secondary water treatment equipment on July 18.
The equipment is a non-essential piece and will not impact overall water quality, according to a message sent by the City of Carbondale.
City staff worked to mitigate the loss of water reserves. The plant is back in operation.
Water plant staff will continue water sampling and water testing to ensure continued water quality.
