Sedgewickville woman charged with murder for January death

SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – A woman faces a murder charge for the January death of a 28-year-old man.

Dana L. Cureton of Sedgewickville faces murder 2nd degree and delivery of a controlled substance charges.

The Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office began to a death investigation on Sunday, January 2 after deputies were dispatched to an unresponsive man at a home in Sedgewickville.

The man is identified as Brandon Stephens, 28, of Patton. He was declared dead shortly after deputies arrived.

Following the initial investigation, it was determined through forensic testing that Fentanyl was a contributing factor to Stephens’ death.

Information was obtained in reference to Christopher Wolk and Dana Cureton distributing Fentanyl to Brandon Stephens.

The Bollinger County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed charges against Dana L. Cureton of Sedgewickville. A warrant was issued by the Honorable Judge Alan Beussink for Cureton’s arrest on August 25.

Cureton’s bond is set at $500,000 cash only.
