Several western KY roads closed due to high water

(KBSI) – Many roads in western Kentucky are still flooded Friday due to heavy rainfall earlier in the week.

As of 1:20 p.m. on Friday, July 21, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports the following:

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) crews continue to make rounds to check on floodwaters that blocked highways at more than 40 locations in seven counties at dark Wednesday.

KYTC District 1 crews spent Thursday clearing storm debris and drift, as well as picking up signs and barricades. They are specifically inspecting roadways to look for damage to embankments, cross drains, and culverts in areas that exceeded normal flow levels during the flash flooding.

The list below includes several closures where drainage infrastructure and roadways were damaged. Repairs will be required before those highway sections can reopen, according to KYTC.

At this hour we have the following to report:

Ballard County

  • KY 802/LaCenter Road is CLOSED at the 6.7mm due to a cross drain washout between Knight Road and Antioch Church Road
  • KY 310/Turner Landing Rd is CLOSED at the 6mm due to a culvert washout between Smokey Road and Graves Lane
  • KY 473 is CLOSED at the 2.5mm due to two cross drains washed out between Mosstown Road and Buchanan Road
  • KY 358/Hinkleville Road is CLOSED near the 4mm due to a damaged cross drain between Mosstown Road and Brooking Road
  • All other highways open

Fulton County

  • KY 1907/Swamp Root Road is CLOSED at the 0 to 3mm- Entire length
  • All other highways open

Carlisle County

  • KY 1820 is CLOSED at the 1-3mm- Signs Posted
  • KY 1820 is CLOSED at the 4-6mm- Signs Posted
  • KY 1628 is CLOSED at the 3 to 4 mile marker- Signs Posted
  • All other highways open

Graves County

  • KY 408 is CLOSED at the 0 to 1mm due to a washout between KY 339 and the Graves-Carlisle County Line
  • KY 945 is CLOSED at the 1.142mm due to a culvert washout
  • KY 408 is CLOSED at the 9.5 to 10mm near the RR Tracks and Mayfield Creek Bridge
  • KY 1820/County Line Rd is CLOSED at the 5 to 6mm between KY 1241 and KY 339 at Melber
  • KY 1241 is CLOSED at the 10mm along Mayfield Creek near the KY 1820 intersection
  • KY 849 has Water Over Road signs posted at the 9.6mm near the Whittemore Rd intersection
  • KY 348 has Water Over Road signs posted between Symsonia and the Graves-Marshall County Line

Hickman County

  • US 51 is OPEN at the 0 to 8mm between the Hickman-Fulton County Line and KY 1745/Cresap Street
  • KY 1686 is CLOSED from the 0 to the 2.7 due to a culvert washout between the Hickman-Graves County Line and KY 1748 – Signs Posted
  • KY 780 is CLOSED at the 1 to 3mm between the RR Crossing and U.S. 51 – Signs Posted
  • KY 123 is CLOSED at the 14 to 16mm in the Hailwell Corner Area at Obion Creek – Signs and Barricades Posted

Marshall County

  • KY 1462/Benton-Birmingham Rd is CLOSED at 1-2mm at Clarks River Bridge

McCracken County

  • KY 339 is CLOSED from 0 to 3mm at the McCracken-Graves County Line north of Melber
  • KY 1255/Bonds Road is CLOSED at the 1 to 2mm west of KY 450/Oaks Road
  • All other highways open
