Sheriff’s office: 2 arrested after police witness drug deal at Paducah hotel

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face charges after detectives say they witnessed a drug deal at a Paducah hotel.

Keiana Baird 26, of Paducah faces charges of failure to signal, operating on a suspended license, possession of Fentanyl, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Austin Hayes 24, of Paducah faces charges of trafficking in Fentanyl 2nd offense, trafficking cocaine 2nd offense, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives received information on Nov. 28 alleging that illegal drug activity was taking place at a Paducah hotel at 5125 Cairo Road.

Detectives conducted surveillance on the hotel beginning at 6:30 p.m. Minutes later, detectives saw a drug deal take place on the parking lot, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. A vehicle involved in the transaction was stopped as it left the hotel. The driver of the vehicle, Keiana Baird of Paducah, was arrested after a search of the vehicle revealed 10 Fentanyl pills and some marijuana.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the hotel room that was involved in the drug transaction. The search warrant was executed just after 9:30 p.m.

Austin Hayes was stopped and arrested as he tried to leave the hotel room.

Detectives found marijuana and cocaine when they searched Hayes. During a search of the hotel room, detectives found about 100 Fentanyl pills, marijuana, and money believed to be proceeds of illegal drug trafficking, according to the sheriff’s office. Hayes was on probation at the time of arrest for underlying drug offenses.
