Shopping local during the holidays

Daisy, Mo. (KBSI) – The holidays are a prime time for shoppers.

Whether it be baked goods for the family or last-minute Christmas shopping, citizens tend to spend more money during the holidays.

It’s important to remember where you spend your money matters.

For local business owners the holidays are one of the most important times of the year.

Jennifer Turner is a small business owner of a seasonal gift shop called ‘Grandma’s House.’

Located on a quiet road in Daisy Missouri, they’ve served the community for 27 seasons.

Turner and her family make wire art, and sale hand crafted items in the shop.  All items are American made.

“It’s kind of make or break for us, whether we can keep our doors open or not.” Says Turner.

You’ll find a much different atmosphere at ‘Grandma’s House’, then you will at a retail store.

The Turner family wanted shoppers to feel that cozy feeling like being at grandmas during the holidays.

Turner says, “Come in and we’ve got coffee on and cookies and walking in it’s just the whole experience of feeling like your walking home and yeah it’s just very warm and inviting and it’s a tradition for people to come out every year.

Shopping local not only supports an area family and business but you’ll find handpicked items and cozy nostalgic atmospheres you can’t find in a retail store.

Grandma’s House is only open from November through December 30th each year however you can purchase items online through their online shop the rest of the year.
