Southeast Missouri roads closed due to flooding

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Transportation has closed several state routes in Southeast Missouri due to recent storms and flash flooding.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution and plan alternate routes. MoDOT crews are monitoring state routes, but drivers are urged to stop and turn around if they encounter high water.

The following routes are closed:

Cape Girardeau County: Route 25 and Route EE due to storm debris
Dunklin County: Route B
Howell County: Route K, Route 142, and Route EE
Iron County: Route F
Madison County: Route V
Shannon County: Route NN and Route H
Stoddard County: Route NN
Wright County: Route AB

MoDOT offers the following driving tips for rainy weather:

Turn on headlights when using windshield wipers
Slow down and avoid cruise control
Leave plenty of following distance
Never drive around barricades
Avoid driving into high water
