Southeast Missouri State University partners with Ag tech startup Saluna
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University’s Sikeston campus is partnering with Saluna, a St. Louis-based agricultural technology startup focused on advancing hemp as a sustainable crop alternative.
Saluna will utilize the campus as its primary field research site, leasing space and field-testing property to conduct seed trials. The startup will also hire and train SEMO students to support its research.
The collaboration brings real-world experience to students and provides Saluna with access to a productive agricultural region.
Saluna’s connection to SEMO began in 2023, and the partnership has grown to include hiring three SEMO students.
The startup’s expansion in Sikeston highlights SEMO’s role in bridging rural resources with urban innovation, driving workforce development and supporting new businesses.
