Southern Illinois Healthcare implements visitor restrictions amid flu surge

CARTERVILLE, Ill., (KBSI) — Due to a spike in Influenza A cases, Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) is imposing temporary visitor restrictions at its hospitals to safeguard patients, families and staff.
The restrictions, effective immediately, limit visitation to individuals 18 and older.
Patients are allowed no more than two visitors at a time.
Visitors with flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough or sore throat, are asked to refrain from visiting.
To prevent the spread of illness, masks and hand sanitizer are available at hospital entrances and throughout the facilities.
SIH appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation in keeping the community safe.
