Southern Illinois organizations host stress management workshop

HARRISBURG, Ill. (KBSI) – A community workshop aimed at mental health and stress relief awareness will take place at the Harrisburg Community Health Center. 

Local organizations of Southern Illinois are coming together for a completely free event that will give citizens vital tools for stress management, coping skills and more. 

Isaac Hicks is the Outreach Coordinator for Community Health and Emergency Services Incorporated(CHESI) he shares that through the healing Illinois grant funding a stress management workshop will provide creative skills for stress relief giving citizens of southern Illinois tools to relieve stress and boost mental health through art and other technics that can be used at home.

“You don’t have to go to some kind of group therapy all the time or some large event or, take up a yoga class or something like that” says Hicks. “There’s stuff that you can do on your own time at home to de-stress.”

Hicks share’s the event will start at 10 am on Saturday May 16, 2026 and everyone is welcome to walk in and stay as long or as short as they like, as the goal is simply to help boost mental health and decrease stress through easy, creative and free techniques provided through local southern Illinois resources working together.
