ILLINOIS (KBSI) – Knowing the signs of Hypothermia and Frostbite is crucial when it comes to winter weather.
The Southern Seven Health Department shares signs and symptoms to watch out for when experiencing frostbite or hypothermia.
Frostbite:
-Redness and pain on any area of skin
-White or grayish yellow skin area
-Numbness
-Skin feels weirdly firm or like wax
Hypothermia:
-Exhaustion
-Shivering
-Confusion
-Memory loss
-Fumbling hands
-Drowsiness
-Slurred Speech
In infants it can look like red cold skin and very low energy.
If you believe you are experiencing signs or symptoms of hypothermia or frostbite you should call 911 immediately.
