MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A St. Louis woman faces charges of human trafficking and sodomy 3rd degree (facilitation) after a call for assistance from two females staying at a local hotel.

McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to a local hotel on January 3.

Two females reported they were stranded and trying to get back home to St. Louis.

The two were identified as 22-year-old Marlaa Jackson of St. Louis and a 15-year-old juvenile.

As the circumstances to the two being in Paducah were being investigated,

Authorities obtained information that Jackson often worked in the commercial sex trafficking trade, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say she had been working from the local hotel room.

After authorities spoke with the juvenile’s legal guardian in St. Louis, it was found that she had run away the evening before.

Additional information and evidence was obtained that Jackson had also included the juvenile in her postings and commercial sex activities earlier in the evening, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jackson was arrested. The juvenile was released to her legal guardian.

This investigation is ongoing. Authorities say additional suspects and charges are likely in the future.
