Suspected fireworks turn to shots fired in Carbondale, police investigating

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) — Police in Carbondale are investigating a report of gunshots fired in the 800 block of West College Street early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the scene at 12:58 a.m. after initially receiving a report of fireworks. An investigation revealed that several gunshots had been fired, causing damage to a residence.

Police believe the shots were fired as a result of an ongoing personal dispute between acquaintances. No injuries were reported.
