Three juveniles arrested in connection with Carbondale business burglary

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI)— Police have arrested two additional juvenile suspects in connection with a burglary reported earlier this month at a Carbondale business.

According to the Carbondale Police Department, officers responded around 4:06 a.m. March 8 to a business in the 500 block of East Main Street for a report of a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived, they saw two suspects running from the building. One suspect, a 15-year-old male from Carbondale, was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Police said the juvenile was found with credit cards belonging to another person.

Investigators said three suspects, all wearing dark clothing, damaged property at the business while attempting to gain entry.

The 15-year-old was arrested on charges of burglary, criminal damage to property, resisting a peace officer and possession of a lost or mislaid credit card. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail while awaiting transfer to a juvenile detention facility pending a court appearance.

During the investigation, officers later identified the remaining suspects.

On March 10, officers arrested a 16-year-old male from Carbondale, who was charged with burglary and criminal damage to property and later released on electronic monitoring.

On March 12, officers arrested another 16-year-old male from Carbondale, who was charged with burglary and released to a guardian.

The investigation remains ongoing.
