DEXTER, Mo., (KBSI) — Three people, including two children, died in an early morning house fire in Dexter, according to the Dexter Fire Department.

Fire crews responded at 1:58 a.m. to a structure fire at 317 Truitt St. The home was fully involved upon arrival, and crews remained on scene until about 7:30 a.m., Fire Chief Don Seymour said.

Thirteen people were living in the residence at the time of the fire. Three victims — ages 43, 13 and 5 — died in the blaze. Two adults were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.

Fire officials said Bloomfield and Bernie fire departments assisted by providing tanker support for water supply.

The Dexter Fire Department said the home did not have working smoke detectors and urged residents to ensure smoke alarms are installed and functioning properly.

A GoFundMe has been established to support the family. Donations can be made through, Fundraiser by Brittany Edwards : Prayers and Support for My Brother’s Family.
