GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Two people were injured in a crash early Sunday on Interstate 69 near the Hickman-Graves County line, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the collision happened around 5:30 a.m. in an area of heavy fog, with the crash spanning both counties.

Mickey Noonan, 56, of Hickman, was driving a 2012 Chrysler 200 northbound when he struck the right rear of a tanker trailer pulled by a 2019 Peterbilt driven by Robert Bowers, 73, of McAlpin, Florida. Bowers was also traveling northbound and was ahead of Noonan at the time of the crash.

Authorities said Noonan did not see the semi in front of him due to the fog.

Noonan’s vehicle sustained heavy damage, while the trailer had moderate damage. Noonan and his passenger, Angela Noonan, 44, of Hickman, were taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Bowers was not injured.

Deputy Andrew Prusaczyk investigated the crash with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Hickman County Sheriff’s Office, Hickman County EMS, Water Valley Fire Department, Hickman County Fire/Rescue and Mayfield-Graves County EMS.

The scene was cleared shortly after 9 a.m.
