Two men face charges after theft investigation in Scott City

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – Two men face charges after allegedly stealing various metals from a business in Scott City.

According to Scott City Police Chief of Police Chris Griggs on January 20, 2025 they received information from ISI recycling in Scott City that there was a mix of metal and copper missing from the business.

Griggs says from there his department conducted an investigation.

“So, the company itself had some missing items they notified us about, our guys went to work and looked at several different leads and was able to investigate that pretty thoroughly and ultimately wound up to two arrests.”

Michael J. Reigert  , and Timothy Keesee both of Scott City face misdemeanor charges for stealing more than 750 dollars in metal and copper.

“Mr. Reigert specifically was already out on bond on copper thefts we had on a railroad property several months ago” says Griggs.

Griggs says they have made several arrests in the last few months related to copper and metal thefts from businesses in the Scott City area and will continue efforts to crack down on these types of thefts in an effort to support and protect local businesses.

“We have technology that wasn’t here even two years ago” says Griggs.” We will be able to see you and we will be able to track you down.”
