OBION COUNTY, Tenn., (KBSI) — Two Obion County Central High School students have received national recognition from the College Board for their academic achievements.
Ellie Evans and Carter Ayers were selected as recipients of the College Board’s School Recognition Award, which honors students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.
The award, introduced in 2025, recognizes students who rank among the top 10% of test takers at their high school on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, or who earn scores of 3 or higher on at least two different Advanced Placement exams by the end of their sophomore year.
In addition to the School Recognition Award, Ayers received the Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award, which honors high-achieving students from rural and small-town communities.
The awards are part of the College Board’s National Recognition Program, which helps colleges and universities identify academically accomplished students from communities that may be underrepresented in traditional recruitment efforts.
Recipients are included in the College Board’s Student Search Service, allowing colleges and scholarship programs to connect with them.
Students can also list the recognition on college applications, including the Common Application. The awards may provide additional consideration for scholarships or financial aid at participating institutions.
Obion County Central High School officials congratulated Evans and Ayers on their accomplishments, saying the honors reflect their academic dedication and commitment to excellence.
