Two Tennessee men arrested after traffic stop uncovers drugs in Graves County

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — Two Tennessee men were arrested early Thursday morning after a traffic stop in Graves County led to the discovery of drugs and related items, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Austin Caldwell conducted the traffic stop around 2:55 a.m. near the intersection of Sanderson Road and Jimtown Road after observing a traffic violation.
The driver was identified as Lannie Phipps, 71, of South Fulton, Tennessee. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Bobby J. Madding, 32, of Union City, Tennessee.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies said they located methamphetamine, an amphetamine pill, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Authorities also reported finding a digital scale commonly associated with drug distribution.
Phipps was arrested on charges including trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic-related violations.
Madding was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities said Madding also had an active bench warrant from Fulton County.
Both men were transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being moved to an out-of-county detention facility.
