U.S. Energy Department & Trump Administration selects Paducah for AI data center
PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The U.S. Department of Energy says it has selected four sites to develop artificial intelligence data centers and energy generation projects.
The sites are Idaho National Laboratory, Oak Ridge Reservation in Tennessee, Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Kentucky and Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
The Energy Department says the projects will help accelerate the development of AI infrastructure and support the Trump administration’s goals of reducing energy costs and promoting American energy leadership.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright says the sites are well-positioned to host data centers and power generation, bolstering grid reliability and national security while reducing energy costs.
The department plans to release more details on the projects, including eligibility requirements and submission guidelines, in the coming months.
