Vehicle crash after driver loses consciousness behind the wheel

GRAVES COUNTY. Ky. (KBSI) -A vehicle ran off the road after the driver allegedly lost consciousness behind the wheel.
According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 3:00 pm, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Interstate 69 near the 23-mile marker for a single vehicle, injury collision.
Deputy Zac Smith’s investigation determined that Mystic Mangrum, age 18 of Pryorsburg, was southbound on Interstate 69 when he fell asleep or lost consciousness.
Mangrum’s vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet truck, ran off of the right side of the roadway, traveled through a ditch which caused the vehicle to become airborne.
The vehicle then came back across both lane of Interstate 69 and collided with the center barrier wall.
Mangrum was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Deputy Smith was assisted at the scene by Deputy Larry Jones, Deputy Greg Sloan, Mayfield / Graves County EMS, Mayfield / Graves County Fire / Rescue and the Kentucky State Police.
