MORGANFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after a vehicle, and human remains were recovered Friday morning from the Ohio River near a boat ramp off Dike Lane in Morganfield.

Police said a scuba diver discovered the submerged vehicle around 10 a.m. and notified authorities. Human remains were located during the recovery.

The identity of the remains has not been confirmed, though investigators believe the case may be connected to a Union County man who was reported missing in 2006.

The vehicle and remains are being examined by investigators, and the remains will be sent to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and further analysis.

State police are leading the investigation with assistance from local authorities. Officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
