VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — Students in Vienna High School’s podcasting program recently volunteered with Faith Alive during a regional food distribution effort.

Students assisted with loading a truck bound for St. Louis as part of Faith Alive’s outreach and distribution operations. School officials said the experience gave students an opportunity to support a community organization while participating in hands-on service outside the classroom.

“Students really need to be out in the community helping, especially with something like Faith Alive,” podcasting instructor Craig Bradley said. “This really helps students realize what they can do to assist people in and around town. I feel it gives them a sense of worth. I am proud of them.”

Principal John Giffin said service opportunities allow students to see firsthand the impact local organizations have on the community.

“We appreciate our students’ willingness to give their time and help support important local efforts,” Giffin said.

The volunteer project is one of several community-based activities students in the podcasting program have participated in during the school year.
