Vintage Now fashion show to raise money for Safe House of Southeast Missouri

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Save the date for purple Thursday!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Thursday, October 19 is Domestic Violence Awareness Day.

Jessica Hill is the Executive Director of Safe House of Southeast Missouri. She shares why it is important to raise awareness.

Hill helps victims all year around have a safe place to go.

The Safe House provides a home, clothing, and much more to those who need it the most.

During the month of October there are several ways to show your support.

One way to show your support you, can wear purple on Thursday and post a photo to social media with the hashtag #purplethursday.

Jeanne Muckerman is the spokesperson for Vintage Now, a fashion show fundraiser for the Safe House of Southeast Missouri. She discusses how the event gives back to domestic violence victims.

One in four women in their lifetime will experience some kind of physical violence and so its really important that people know first that kind of like our show is inclusive so is domestic violence,” said Muckerman. “It doesn’t have a race an ethnicity a size, a pay range, it impacts everyone, so we really hope that this show will continue to spread the light of goodness that’s happening at the Safe House.”

The 2023 theme for the Vintage Now Fashion Show fundraiser is “Imagination: Ode to the Arts”. The show is Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tap here to purchase tickets.
