Volunteers needed for Salvation Army of Cape Girardeau to open as overnight warming center

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Salvation Army of Cape Girardeau will open this week as an overnight warming center, but they need volunteers.

The Salvation Army of Cape Girardeau says they have open shifts available that need to be filled in order to keep guests and volunteers safe.

The Overnight Warming Center relies on volunteers to cover every shift while open, just one uncovered two-hour shift prevents them from opening.

While many shifts are filled, some shifts only have one volunteer or none.

More volunteers are needed for more coverage each day for hours after 9:00 pm through 8:00 am.

Training will be made available as needed.

They say a decision will have to be made sometime later today whether the Warming Center will be available on Wednesday December 18.
