MOUNT VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — A planned water main replacement will result in a temporary water service interruption and a boil water order for some residents in Mount Vernon.
City officials said water service will be shut off from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, for customers in the area of South 15th Street and Perkins.
A boil water order will be issued following the repair and will remain in effect until further notice.
Officials advise residents to prepare by setting aside water for drinking, cooking and hygiene, and to avoid using water-dependent appliances during the outage.
City crews said they will work to complete the project as quickly as possible and restore service promptly.
Residents with questions can contact the city for more information.
